You don’t have to walk far before stumbling across one of the city’s famous sights, museums, parks or galleries. The hotel itself is set between two of London’s well-known parks – to the west is the vast Hyde Park and to the east there is Green Park and St James’ Park. Set on the western point of Green Park, near to the hotel, is the Wellington Arch which was completed in 1830 and is a memorial to First Duke of Wellington Sir Arthur Wellesey.

The entertainment haven of the West End is a stone’s throw from the Intercontinental. Its theatres welcome many visitors during the week and into the weekend with a number of top acts and shows on display. Meanwhile, situated next to the Intercontinental Park Lane is Apsley House, formerly home to the Duke of Wellington and still home to some of his descendents.

A little further afield, on the banks of the River Thames visitors to the region will inevitably come to the likes of St Paul’s Cathedral, designed in 1673 by Sir Christopher Wren, the Millennium Bridge which crosses the Thames near to the famous cathedral and the Tate Modern Museum in the Southwark district of the city.

Any trip to London can’t be without a wander round Parliament Square, where you can view the ever-impressive Houses of Parliament, the dominating Westminster Abbey and the 135-metre-tall London Eye, just to the other side of the Thames. Whether you plan to go sightseeing, soak up some of the culture or simply go for a walk in a nearby park, there is something for everyone in this busy and fascinating city.
